Afternoon: Visit Kyoto Kamigamo Shrine, Shimogamo Shrine, Old Mitsui Family Shimogamo Villa

Tuesday, September 30

Morning: Introductory Lectures on the Japanese Garden
Afternoon: Visit the gardens of Daitoku-ji, Zen monastery

Wednesday, October 1

Morning: Visit Kyoto Imperial Palace and another Imperial garden
Afternoon: Visit Machiya house
Visit the Garden of Suzaku, Contemporary garden

Thursday, October 2

Morning: Visit Daigo-ji garden
Afternoon: Visit Byodo-in garden,On-site lectures on Heian period gardens and hands-on practice in arranging shore stones at the Byodo-in Temple garden.

Friday, October 3

Morning: Visit Tairyu-sanso garden by Ogawa Jihei
Afternoon: Visit Murin-an garden by Ogawa Jihei,lectures on the Materials and Construction

Saturday, October 4

Free time all day

Sunday, October 5

Morning: Visit Kinkaku-ji garden
Afternoon: Visit Ryoan-ji garden and Ninna-ji garden

Monday, October 6

All day excursion to Nara; Archetypical gardens, Joruri Temple, Jikoin Temple. Visit restoration sites of ancient
gardens, and learn the theory and methods of the restoration.

Tuesday, October 7

Morning: Visit the Tenryu-ji
Afternoon: Visit the Daikaku-ji

Wednesday, October 8

Morning and Afternoon:
On-site lectures on Daimyo gardens and hands-on practice maintenance in a historical garden in the Genkyu-rakurakuen garden in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture

On-site lectures on Daimyo gardens and hands-on practice maintenance in a historical garden in the Genkyu-rakurakuen garden in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture

Thursday, October 9

Morning: Visit a stone cutter’s workshop
Afternoon: Lectures on Japanese Gardens Outside of Japan

Friday, October 10

Morning and Afternoon: Travel to Ashu, deep in the mountains of Japan, and preview a garden creation workshop.
Evening: International colloquium

Saturday, October 11

All day garden making worksho at Ashu

Sunday, October 12

Visit Miyama’s Traditional Thatched-Roof Houses and return to Kyoto and a Closing Ceremony
The seminar ends around 2:00 PM (14:00)
